Live a unique experience in the heart of the magical town of Coatepec, where the cloud forest intertwines with coffee plantations. “Among Orchids and Coffee” is a two-day journey that celebrates the natural beauty of orchids and the coffee-growing culture that brings life to this land of mist and tradition.
We begin our experience at the Dr. Isaías Contreras Juárez Orchid Museum, where you’ll discover the fascinating world of orchids and the legacy of those who have devoted their lives to conserving these species. Next, we head to the Francisco Javier Clavijero Botanical Garden, one of the most important in the country, where you’ll walk through the montane cloud forest and learn about the endemic species that inhabit this ecosystem.
In the afternoon, we’ll explore the historic center of Coatepec, with its colonial houses, tree-lined plazas, and alleyways steeped in history. The day ends with free time to enjoy a traditional café, sample local pastries, and soak in the town’s vibrant soul.
On the second day, we’ll delve into the heart of coffee. We’ll visit Finca Fátima, an iconic coffee plantation where you’ll learn about the entire coffee-making process; from bean to cup. We’ll take a walk through the coffee fields, exploring the different varieties, the agricultural work involved, and the cultural and economic significance of coffee in the region.
The experience concludes with a coffee tasting, where you’ll learn how to prepare specialty coffee, explore extraction techniques, and experiment with aromas, textures, and methods that will awaken all your senses.
